www.sportsecyclopedia.com 1906: At Pittsburgh's Exposition Park, the Pirates become the first team to cover the grass to prevent it from getting wet during a rain storm. A canvas tarp is used to keep the infield dry and prevent a rainout. The plan works as the showers pass. The game however ends up in disappointment for the Pirates, as they are defeated by the Chicago Cubs 5-1.

www.sportsecyclopedia.com Working Overtime For the second straight game, the Toronto Raptors and Miami Heat need an extra five minutes to decide their game as the Toronto looked to even their second round series. After dropping the opener, the Raptors faced a must win situation in Game 2 at Air Canada Centre on Thursday Night. www.sportsecyclopedia.com Penguins in Command The Washington Capitals are on the verge of yet another playoff disappointment, after dropping Game 4 of their second round series with the Pittsburgh Penguins 3-2 in overtime. The Capitals who were the best team in the regular season, but have yet to reach the conference finals in the Alex Ovechkin ear are now down three games to one against their arch rivals from Pittsburgh. The Capitals struck first Wednesday, as Jay Beagle scored 2:58 into the game. The Penguins evened the score on a goal by Trevor Daley. The teams traded goals again in the second and went to overtime tied 2-2 after a scoreless third period. The Penguins would not need much time to send the crowd at CONSOL Energy Center home happy, as Patric Hornqvist beat Braden Holtby 2:34 into overtime. The Penguins will look to eliminate the Capitals for the ninth time in ten playoff meetings in Game 5 in Washington on Saturday.

www.sportsecyclopedia.comWarriors of the Fourth The Golden State Warriors playing without Stephen Curry, found themselves in a deep hole early as they took on the Portland Trail Blazers in Game 2 in the second round of the NBA Playoffs. With Damian Lillard leading the way the Blazers scored 34 points in the first quarter and led by 11 points entering the fourth quarter. Most teams would have folded, but the Warriors showed just why they won a record 73 games, outscoring Portland 34-12 in the final 12 to win the game 110-99 and take a 2-0 series lead. The Warriors dominated the fourth quarter on both ends of the floor, holding Damian Lillard to one three-point basket in the fourth quarter, after scoring 22 points in the first three. Klay Thompson was the offensive star with a game high 27 points, while Draymond Green once again dominated on defense, scoring 17 points, with 14 rebounds and seven assists.
