1986: It's one last ride of glory for legendary Jockey Willie Shoemaker who wins the Kentucky Derby aboard Ferdinand. The California bred horse entered the race a 17-1 underdog, but took advantage of a slow pace and ran a steady race in a time of 2:02.80 to beat Bold Arrangement by two and a quarter length. It is the fourth time Shoemaker won the race for the roses at Churchill Downs and the first since 1965.
