2001: On the final lap of the Daytona 500, Dale Earnhart driving his famous black Monte Carlo adorned with the number 3 is in third place with his son Dale Jr. in second and his driver Michael Waltrip in the lead. Holding off the field, Earnhardt makes contact with Sterling Marlin in crashes hard into the wall in turn four. Waltrip and Dale Jr. finish first and second, but the celebration is short lived as the crash kills Dale Earnhardt one of NASCAR's greatest drivers.
