www.sportsecyclopedia.comSqueezing In With an early season loss to a terrible St. John's team and losses in five of their last six games Syracuse hardly seemed worthy of a sport in the NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament. However, after two weeks #10 Syracuse has proven themselves quite worthy and are on their way to the Final Four after beating #1 Virginia in the Midwest Regional Finals in Chicago. Things did not look good early on for the Orange, as Virginia jumped out to 16-point lead early in the second half. Syracuse than caught fire thanks to the shooting of Malachi Richardson who scored 21 of his game high 23 points in the second half. Powered by a 25-4 run Syracuse would win the game 68-62. They will next face North Carolina who is the only #1 seed to reach the Final Four. The Tar Heels also in all ACC matchup simply outsized #6 Notre Dame 88-74 in the East Regional Finals in Philadelphia, answering a 12-0 run with a 12-0 run to take control in the second half.
