The most impressive performance came from ACC Champion North Carolina who advanced to the Eastern Regional Finals in Philadelphia with a 101-86 win over #5 Indiana. Leading the way for the #1 seeded Tar Heels was Brice Johnson who had 20 points and 10 boards. North Carolina will next face #6 seed Notre Dame who used a late surge to race past #7 Wisconsin 61-56. In the Midwest Region in Chicago, #1 Virginia led wire-to-wire against #4 Iowa State 84-71. The Cavaliers will next play #10 Syracuse who defeated #11 Gonzaga 63-60 by overcoming a five-point deficit in the final three minutes. The Orange survived a missed call from the referees as Tyler Lydon block, rebound and free throws with four seconds left sealed the win.
