www.sportsecyclopedia.com/Besibol Diplomacy With the long hostile relationship between the USA and Cuba showing signs of thawing, the possibility of baseball and Cuba bridging a gap is rising. Baseball has long been the National Pastime in Cuba with many stars of the National team risking their life to escape and find their way to fame and fortune in the Majors. Since Fidel Castro's revolution few teams have been invited to the island nation that once was a popular spring training spot. On Tuesday with President Barack Obama sitting next to Cuban leader Raul Castro the Tampa Bay Rays became the first MLB Team to play in Cuba since the Baltimore Orioles in 1999. With James Loney driving in three runs and Matt Moore tossing six shutout inning the Rays defeated the Cuban National Team 4-1. The game was part of a baseball summit with several baseball legends make the trip with the hope that the door will be open for the Communist country to allow players freedom to move to the United States and play Major League Baseball.
