In the featured game, Wichita State faced Vanderbilt for the right to face #6 Arizona in the South Region. The game was close most of the way as the two teams were even at 30 at the half. In the second half the Shockers found their long game, making seven shots from behind the arch as they took control of the game behind an 11-0 run. After the Commodores, made a run in the middle of the second half Wichita State put the game out of reach with a 14-0 run as seven second half three point shots on the way to winning 70-50. Earlier it was no contest in a battle of 16 seeds as Florida Gulf Coast won the right to face #1 seed in the East Region North Carolina by beating Farleigh Dickinson 96-65. Two more play in games will be held on Wednesday with the Full field of 64 take the floor on Thursday.
