www.sportsecyclopedia.com/Dance Hall The last two decades have been pretty bleak for Seton Hall who was at one time a power in the Big East in the early 90's. On Saturday the Pirates won their first Conference Championship since 1993, upsetting Villanova 69-67. Seton Hall won the game thanks to a strong first half that saw them build a 15-point lead. After Villanova took a 66-64 lead, the Pirates won the game on a three-point play by Isaiah Whitehead. The Pirates resurgence is thanks in part to Coach Kevin Willard, who shared the honor of his conference's Coach of the Year with Jay Wright of Villanova. Willard took over in South Orange in 2010, when the Pirates hit rock bottom with former coach Bobby Gonzalez was charged with shoplifting, which came on the heels of two players involved in an off-campus robbery. The tournament title should get Seton Hall at five seed as they make their first appearance in the NCAA Tournament since 2006.
