1948: NHL President Clarence Campbell announced that Don Gallinger of the Boston Bruins and Billy Taylor of the New York Rangers are banned for life for gambling. Taylor had recently been traded by the Bruins over concerns with his relationship with gamblers. Taylor and Gallinger had bet on several games involving the Bruins leading to the ban that would be lifted in 1970. www.sportsecyclopedia.com/
