www.sportsecyclopedia.com/Strong Message Like the NFL, NBA and NHL before it Major League Baseball has been forced to deal recently with Domestic Violence. The league and the Player's Association reached an agreement on discipline last August with Commissioner Rob Manfred handing down his first suspension on Tuesday to Aroldis Chapman of the New York Yankees. Chapman will be benched the first 30 games of the regular season for allegedly firing a gun following an altercation with his girlfriend in October. Chapman who was acquired by the Yankees from the Cincinnati Reds in the off-season took responsibility and said he will not appeal the suspension. Aroldis Chapman will be eligible to return to the Yankees on May 9th and will be allowed to participate in Spring Games. Meanwhile Jose Reyes of the Colorado Rockies remains on leave while MLB investigates as Yasil Puig of the Los Angeles Dodgers will likely not receive any discipline.
