2006: A special committee is formed to look at the Negro Leagues for players and historical figures to induct into baseball's Hall of Fame in Cooperstown. The committee chose 17 for induction ranging from players to owners, to black baseball pioneers and founders. The most notable name on the list of 17 for induction is Effa Manley, who owned the Newark Eagles and the first woman inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame.
