1986: Rather than shave his trademark handlebar mustache, Rollie Fingers who was baseball's all-time leader in saves decides to retire. After the previous season Fingers who had 341 career saves was released by the Milwaukee Brewers. The only team to offer a contract was the Cincinnati Reds, who had a strict policy under Owner Marge Schott forbidding any facial hair. Ironically in 2015 the Reds used the handle bar mustache as symbol of the All-Star Game they hosted.
