1991: In the third inning of a game against the New York Yankees at the Oakland Coliseum, Rickey Henderson of the Oakland Athletics becomes baseball's all-time leading base steal. Henderson who began the season on the disabled list needing two to equal Lou Brock's record breaks the record by swiping third base for number 939 against the battery of Tim Leary and Matt Nokes. Rickey Henderson would go on to finish with 1,406 steals.
