www.sportsecyclopedia.com Movers and Shakers Ahead of the NFL Draft teams were looking to make a big splash and land a franchise quarterback. Two weeks before the draft began Thursday in Chicago the deals were already being made as the Los Angeles Rams sent a package of picks to the Tennessee Titans for the first overall selection. A week later the Philadelphia Eagles did the same send five picks to the Cleveland Browns for the second overall pick. Both picks were to be quarterbacks, the only drama would be who would go first. The answer would be Jared Goff of California who was chosen first by the Rams. The Eagles meanwhile took Carson Wentz, who had been part of North Dakota State's FCS dynasty, winning the National Championship five straight seasons. Goff is expected to be ready right away, while Wentz has more upside but will likely need a year of two before he is ready to lead a team, which is likely why the Rams on their return to Los Angeles chose Goff first.
