Ending the defending the champions reign was not easy, as the Blackhawks continued battle back after falling behind in the series three games to one. After losing Game 5 in double overtime, the Blues jumped out to a 3-1 lead in Game 6 in Chicago. However, the Blackhawks stormed back with five unanswered goals to force Game 7. The Blues jumped out early in Game 7 at the Scottrade Center scoring one minute into the game on a goal by Jori Lehtera. Colton Parayko added a second goal to give St. Louis a 2-0 lead. The champs battled back and the game was tied until former Blackhawk Troy Brower put the Blues in front to stay with 11:29 left as Brian Elliott made several big saves to preserve the win.
