www.sportsecyclopedia.com Beware of the Penguins Ever since a coaching change in December, the Pittsburgh Penguins after a slow start have been the hottest team in the NHL. That streak continued into the playoffs, where they just finished off a dominant performance in the first round against the New York Rangers, winning the series in five games. The Rangers who had been to the conference finals the past two seasons eliminating the Penguins along the way. The series was different as the Rangers were hobbled by several key injuries. The Penguins also had their issues, playing without Goalie Marc-Andre Fleury. However, when their offensive attack is working at full strength it did not seem to matter. After splitting the first two games of the series at home the Penguins won both games at Madison Square Garden, before thumping the Rangers 6-3 in the series finale on Saturday, erupting with four goals in the second period.
