www.sportsecyclopedia.comExorcising the Ghosts Two years ago the San Jose Sharks jumped out to a 3-0 lead over the rival Los Angeles Kings, dominating the first three games of their opening round series. However, the Kings rallied to win the next four games and went on to win the Stanley Cup for the second time in three years. The Sharks meanwhile were sent reeling and had one of their worst seasons in years last year. The Sharks with a renewed focus on defense, and the addition of Goalie Martin Jones bounced back in 2016 and returned to the playoffs where they once again faced their nemesis from Los Angeles. Leading 3-1 in the series, the Sharks looked to close out the series in five games jumped out to a 3-0 lead only to see the Kings rally in the second period. In the third, the Sharks regained the lead on Joonas Donskoi's second goal of the game. The Sharks would add two more and win the game 6-3 and will next face the winner of the Anaheim Ducks and Nashville Predators series current even at two games apiece.
