www.sportsecyclopedia.com End of the Road The NBA regular season wraps up tonight and so does the career of Kobe Bryant. When he decided to skip college and enter the NBA Draft, he was seen as a raw and talented kid, but nobody could have imagined the career he would have. Initially drafted by the Charlotte Hornets, Bryant was acquired by the Los Angeles Lakers in a draft day deal in 1996. Kobe Bryant became an All-Star two years later and never looked back making the All-Star Game 18 times. As he matured, Kobe Bryant became a winner and while he often clashed with Shaquille O'Neal the two won three straight NBA Championships. After Shaq left Bryant showed he could also be a leader winning a MVP and two more titles. When he walks off the court at Staples Center for the final time after the Lakers game against the Utah Jazz, Kobe Bryant will do so ranked second in scoring with his next step induction in the Hall of the Fame.
