www.sportsecyclopedia.com No Canada The Stanley Cup Playoffs will be All American this spring as none of the seven Canadian teams will make the NHL postseason. On Wednesday the Ottawa Senators were mathematically eliminated from playoff contention despite a 2-1 win over the Winnipeg Jets. Each of the seven teams have their own reason for missing the playoffs as the Edmonton Oilers and Toronto Maple Leafs have been stuck in rebuild modes for several seasons. Out west the Jets were buried in a tough division, while the Calgary Flames who overachieved last season could not build off their success as the Vancouver Canucks looked like an old team that needs a new start. It is in the East where the biggest stunners are as the Senators who made a great run last year just could not get enough offense, while the Montreal Canadiens after a 9-0-0 start were derailed when Carey Price suffered a knee injury.
